Btw 1) bootstrap sound like what you are asking for (see the code related to the wiki i18n article for an example, which is quite easy to adapt to use a db - not referring to i18n2). 2) i18n has it's own implementation as part of 1.2 when it is released, so if you wait a little you may find that what you want is part of cake already.
