Yes the salts are the same as it is a full database dump into new clean /
empty remote database.
Everything else is working fine, data for the public front end works as
normal pulling data for all pages. No errors in the log.
I am using blowfish crypt time in Cake 2.3.8
Now doing some digging I just run this to see what happens:
Security::setHash('blowfish');
$pass = Security::hash('secretPassword','blowfish');
debug($pass);
die();
Local resturns:
'$2a$07$Gh8LByuxeipU.Z3HLvGMt.adycYOtNsUg/inQRe9y4E8Rq50m4t42'
Remote returns:
'$2Avi//Eu4XsU'
Which is obviously not good. Localhost is running PHP 5.3 , where remote
is 5.2.17 so not sure if this is the reason for the mess.
Looking at the source for the blowfish hash function: return
crypt($password, $salt); where crypt is PHP 4, 5 so not sure why it is not
correctly hashing on the server.

Are the salts exactly the same for both versions? Are the hashed passwords
in the DB the same? Is the remote site using the correct DB?
