Sorry, a little typo in my example:

$conditions = array('OR' => array( 'I18n__title.content LIKE' => 
'%'.$searchKey.'%'));

should be 

$conditions = array('OR' => array( I18n__titleTranslation LIKE' => 
'%'.$searchKey.'%'));


That doesn't change the outcome though..
