I think he's referring to how to generally name an MVC View, an MVC Model or
an MVC Controller, using just one term.
I would say call it an MVC Element. Such as:
"One of the first things you'll need to learn before proceeding is how each
MVC Element plays a different role on the system..."

It's called pattern. MVC is a software pattern.
