This helps indeed, thank you. I have been looking into the group history and if I'm understanding correctly, Cake 2.x will map object directly (altough by dropping php4 support?).
By the way, it was not a rant, just something I needed to understand. I believe it should be stated clearer in the manual that we are supposed to get only data from the active mapping of models.
