I prefere to use mod_gzip, you don't need admin prevs either, as that
blog states. Simply do this in your .htaccess if your server supports
it (most do):
<IfModule mod_gzip.c>
mod_gzip_on Yes
mod_gzip_dechunk Yes
</IfModule>
