I completely (and respectfully) disagree. All the people you refer as "CakePHP long time users" were at one point newbies in CakePHP (I know I was when I first started) and they didn't behave like that, AT ALL.
That's why sometimes they get upset (and so do I.) The same way you would get upset (or any newbie for that matter) if you believe they don't understand the way you are feeling: because we are all different people. So the best thing each one of us can do is: 1. Work on our patient (newbies, by understanding that before posting a question you need to take certain actions, such as searching for an already posted answer; seniors, to try to avoid snapping and better explain to newbies what the proper procedure is) 2. Understand that CakePHP is an open source project so people here are devoting their (little) free time for our benefit, so instead of having a "what can it do for me" attitude, we need to have a more proactive behaviour. Sadly, if one doesn't follow these principles (basic for any open source project), then the best thing they can do is go with a commercial product. -MI --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Remember, smart coders answer ten questions for every question they ask. So be smart, be cool, and share your knowledge. What is there for *ME*?", nobody comes to a project they are not familiar with thinking "I want to contribute". So yes, they will ask the same questions over and over, they will ignore the faqs and search feature, they will seem clueless and sometimes rude and demanding, that's how it is. So while saying "if you are not happy with it, help to make it better" response makes perfect sense in your eyes (and it is, I was on that side of the fence as well), it may not come across that way to someone who just arrived and trying to make the first steps - "Me? Help to make it better? Why? I just got here, I am not even sure all this is right for me". --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Cake PHP" group.
