Btw, I also forgot to mention that in certain instances doing what
jonern makes perfect sense. I could see him using this to inform the
user of a particular aspect of the site. Chris, I suppose you could
get into some web service to proide the information to analytics, but
at the end of the day its easer to track popular posts or comments etc
on your own in the database.

I would keep trac of a Session variable array of post ids so that you
can have unique views. Also, you could easily extend your method to
make it available for other models with different fields. And if you
feel really ambitious, setup a behavior for it an watch it work behind
the scenes.
