I've noticed that I'm producing hacks in Cake more than actually using it to the fullest and following best practices. As an avid student, I'm at a loss, having gone through the Cake manual, watched some screencasts, and searched the web for other blogs and tutorials. As of yet, there aren't any significant books on Cake (which someone needs to write and make bank on... I know I would buy one). So what to do?
What I'd like is a detailed tutorial on really using models well. Right now I feel like I'm going through the controller for everything, and almost doing it all by hand (so what's the use using a framework then?). Looking at some snippets of code, I can see some powerful uses for models, but I'm enough of a newbie I guess to need some tutorial explanation for how to customize functions for my own projects. So if you know of any substantial, in-depth tutorials that go far beyond what's in the Cake manual, do tell! --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Cake PHP" group.
