Found the problem myself.

Turns out, I didn't put the tiny_mce script in place, it was in a
different directory, and because no real file was matched by cakePHP,
it was treating a request as a routable attempt to open some
controller's class.
Once I have placed the tiny_mce directory and tiny_mce.js script
correctly under app/webroot/js,  everything worked.
