By no means do I mean to imply anything one way or the other regarding
the quality of that snippet, but the best place for that code is
nowhere in cake (or in your app). Your time would be better placed
using (not coding) the already existing tree behavior rather than
rewriting something which precedes it (chronologically only).
If you go here: http://www.noswad.me.uk/Tree and click "Initialize
(recreate) Medium Tree" and then click around you will see that there
is nothing in that snippet that isn't already coded into a behavior.
