Sorry, somehow my response to this has been lost. Anyway, earlier this morning, I replied to you guys (or tried to,) that I finally realized what I had messed up in the cake project.
I accidentally overwrote one of the main .htaccess files because I didn't realize there was already one in the main cake directory (as well as one in the webroot folder.) Sorry for the lame problem, hopefully this helps other people if they accidentally overwrite or delete their own cake .htaccess files in the future.
