Hey take it easy Walter :-) Surely it's not that big an issue ... As mentioned, VLC on Linux (Fedora 7) worked easily for me. What Linux distro do you use? Quicktime issues aside I wouldn't let that deter you from using Cake. I find that the documentation, articles etc are the best resource for how I learn (mostly by following examples). Screencasts are nice, but for me they are no substitute for a well worked example.
