seems silly to ask but do you have any firewalls like Norton or
ZoneAlarm, if yes then try turning them off. Also, try unloading the
modules that you don't need in the httpd.conf. You may have some sleep
statement unknowingly somewhere... Just few thoughts that came to my
mind..
