Interesting... I traced the rule down to this one:

'/([octop|vir])i$/i' => '\1us',

Which I assume should be

'/(octop|vir)i$/i' => '\1us',

I'll check the latest version of cake and have a look on trac, if
there's nothing there I'll submit a ticket.
