Don't repeat yourself as double posting doesn't get questions answered faster.
Instead, I ask you a question: why use Smarty when you could paste
that code directly into a view and have it work? Would you not agree
that adding Smarty into the mix is both another place for errors to
show up and unnecessary due to PHP's status as a (*gasp*) templating
language?
