It really depends on which ftp server you are using, and how much
access you have to the box (ie can you change the ftp server's
config). Many common ftp servers will actually resolve symlinks,
making this less than perfect. You have a number of options: 1.
restrict your users' ftp accounts to somewhere under app/webroot for
example, or 2. Have them ftp to a totally separate area, and hardlink
to that from app/webroot. e.g. /ftphome/stuff/ and app/webroot/stuff -
> /ftphome/stuff. I would recommend a hard link here to get away from
any sneaky problems with cake's .htaccess, which bases its routing
decision of determining whether the url points for an actual file or
directory. Since the specification does not include symlink behaviour
(AFAIK) here, a hard link would be safer.
