Actually, it looks like he's just barking. Most of his 'complaints' sound like stuff I've heard from C++ developers using Java: "This is too complex", "Why can't I just use a pointer?", etc. Never mind that it enforces good design patterns, or that the inheritance you can use in CakePHP really increases productivity, or that Bake can cut prototyping down to a day... I love how he talks about all the inefficiencies of CakePHP, but then suggests the bloat of a template system.
