Looks like you're stuck with AMFPHP then...or you could Google and
perhaps find things like SWX or some other remoting solutions....
AMFPHP still works though.....it doesn't really matter if it's moving
leaps and bounds or not...it gets the job done. Web hosting is
changing anyway,..and you might as well pony up an extra 10, 20 bucks
a month for a VPS and install AMFEXT...or check out Joyent, or Amazon
EC2...just give it some time, the "average" for web hosting will allow
you to install all sorts of things aside from extensions.

Not to mention the fact that there aren't that many crazy flash apps
out there that require remoting that don't have the budget for a small
VPS (or something larger). If you're playing around, you can set it up
on your local machine too.

Or..you can also use XML feeds and simply write with
AMFPHP...depending on your requirements. You have many options, AMFEXT
is only one...and more to Gwoo's point -- it's all open source...you
could work with it to make it work the way you need.
