Hello all!

I won't bother you with an introduction other than that I am
relatively new to php (yearling) but I'm finding my way around CakePHP
pretty well.

I am contemplating which approach I should use to implement some
social features on my website. It is a flash games arcade site, and I
have a user system setup with darkAuth already. I am looking to
provide the following features:

-Favorites list (& organize favorites in trees)
-Friends
-Messages
-Profiles with a couple fields
-Avatars & avatar collections
-Comments on games, profiles, articles
-Ratings
&LATER: Various RPG features, including battles and items. So it needs
to be expandible.

So the question I have...

SHOULD I BUILD IT FROM THE GROUND-UP? Or, alternatively, does anybody
know a good social networking script that could be easily integrated
(the ones I found would be a nightmare to do such a thing)? Or, as
suggested by somebody else (and screamed at by another), should I
integrate Cake as a Joomla extension, to make use of other Joomla
extensions & user behaviors?

Also, if anybody has spare time or experience with such things perhaps
we can talk.

Thanks!
Mike Floering
