I was also impressed by Extjs as a complete javascript gui.
But if the license is causing trouble that's too bad.

As a general javascript framework (for behaviours, ajax...) I
converted from Prototype to JQuery a number of months ago and have not
looked back for a second. It does the same thing but a bit cleaner and
simpler to read in my opinion. There are widgets but nothing like a
complete gui-framework.

FYI. I am not at all interested in integration with Cake. I don't use
any helpers to create ajax links or updaters.
I like to keep it separate in a "app_behaviour.js" file where I keep
all javascript neatly ordered (alright, I try). If you want that then
prototype is still no1 but I remember seeing a JQuery version of the
helper somewhere.
