Hmmm, Are you using the version of prototype that he supplied on his website? Because I noticed if I used the most recent version (1.6), it won't work very smoothly. If you're not already using it, try that (FYI: his version is " 1.5.1.1 " and should weight about 98kb). Other then that I really don't see how it's not working, your code seems fine.
Ideas: Make sure 'JavaScript' helper is included in App_Controller. Try cleaning your code by separating your JavaScript .
