Hello, I don't manage to find information about my case. Maybe I just don't know exactly what I want. But I'll try to explain:
I have about 5 different models like GuestbookEntry, News, NewsComment, PhotoCollection, PhotoComment and further on. Most of them have no associations with each other. I want to merge all these into one big feed on my frontpage. Almost like Facebook does on their frontpage. It doesn’t seem like CakePHP have any built-in solution for this, and honestly I’m not shure how it should be done anyway. My suggestion is to create a big SQL-query with selects for all the tables separated with UNION ALL. The pagination would also be easy to manage then. Anyway I don’t know how to do this in a CakePHPish way. I’ve provisionally solved this with a method of the feed_controller (!) which queries the database. I think this bit of logic should be placed in the model, but my attempts always ends with something tricky and ugly… Any ideas?
