Although jQuery is flavour of the month at the moment (personally I love it) on a general point is it even a good idea to include a Javascript library in CakePHP, it seems like just another dependency to worry about? Maybe Cake should just worry about PHP but make dealing with AJAX requests as painless as possible - which I think it does pretty well.
Recently I've been writing a fair bit of AJAX with jQuery + Cake and to be brutally honest I find it easier than using the AjaxHelper...
