It depends... how annoying are you? if you think of yourself as highly annoying then go with Symfony it is the framework for annoying people. ;) just kidding > What are the advantages and disadvantages over one another. The majority of people on this list are likely to support CakePHP, for some of us the reasons will differ. Here are mine. Initially I wanted to start to leverage the expertise and breadth of experience of a framework and stop creating everything on my own and reinforcing my own bad practice (we all have them) I am a person who like opinionated development especially when it is well reasoned and thoughtful. I want there to be a 'right' way to do things. I like the idea that if I can work with the conventions I will have to do a lot less configuration. I was constrained somewhat by the fact that I had clients who lived on both PHP4 and PHP5 and that I could leverage a single skill set and toolbox on both. I like the fact that CakePHPs developers have strong opinions and do not hesitate to express them. But more then that I found that I could learn a lot more from reading their code then the code in Symphony. I am a better developer because of them and for that I stick to CakePHP. > All of you, please share your opinion.
