@ Bill: your frustration is not really with CakePHP it's with the
learning curve that exists when first trying to apply all the
conventions.  It's probably something very simple that is causing your
issue and once you fall into the trap once you should not fall into it
again.

My first app took me around 8 months (on and off) to develop and I hit
brick walls most days, but as time went on I was able to resolve more
and more of the issues myself (nearly always me doing something really
daft) and my second app is now coming together in 2 months, future
apps should take a matter of weeks ... so stick with it.

Post your View and Controller code and someone will help you out.
