"Add something to Cake site" can be simple - put that "something" into cake webroot. But not the other way. I don't think that your client will be happy to see his site inside cake when he asked only add new section.
Of course you can put cake into subfolder and use hardcoded absolute links to css/img/js etc files, but it does not look good.
