I am about to start a new project based on CakePHP and would like to know about others' experiences using CakePHP (or similar tools) with version control software.
I have a couple of options, as I see it:
1. I can create a new repository in my choice of software and check in
a base install of CakePHP.
2. I can use git to checkout CakePHP and make my project a local
branch.
I am sure there are others, but I'd like to know the best approach based
on the experience of others.
