In one of the .htaccess files, you'll find, which might cause trouble related
to your intention.

RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?url=$1 [QSA,L]
</IfModule>
please also check your other routes. the first match will be taken.
by the way. Why don't you create an image controller which can be actually
used to resize the images and put some watermark on them? you can combine
the advantage of dynamic images and implement some kind of caching. Take a
look in cake's MediaView for this!
