Hey Chad, thanks for your reply. I know about using base64 coding/decoding but this increase the size of files at least of 25% more. Considering that I'm writing a rest api interface to allow mobile apps to talk to server, so I want to minimize the bandwith usage. As I said a more efficent solution could be the use of the "multipart/related" content type but I don't know if cake or php handles it correctly and trasparently, I have to try. Anyhow many thanks for you reply and the link, i'll check it.
