Are you sure you haven't mixed up your versions?
My own 1.3.2 version and the API clearly states that the code in 1.3.2
at your specified correction point, look like this:

222 if (isset($_SESSION) && session_id()) {

[/code]
No mention of $_started!
Please clarify your issue!
