Thanks for that tip. I'm not sure why I hadn't tried that. Maybe because I trusted my webhost support was right... I had tried many htaccess edits trying to solve this.
After turning on debugging, the root of the problem was obvious. It was due to some custom configuration I put into the db file which checked my "server name"... I had neglected to check if the server name might include the "www" Thanks again, DCrews!
