I have the same problem! Only with the cakephp 1.3.+ With firefox works perfectly, but with Safari, Internet Explorer and Chrome don't work and lost the session or don't store the cookie.
I did a little step setting a different Session.cookie (core.php) and setting the Cookie name on a component i28n wich use the session and cookie, but I have get others misterious errors like "array to string conversion" on session_start() and an other error on cookie system component. The strange this is that on firefox all work perfectly!
