Sorry, meant to type "debug($this->validationErrors)"

and incidentally it is showing this now:

Array
(
    [Alert] => Array
        (
            [id] => numeric
        )

)

Does that mean cake is expecting a value to be submitted for the id
field? id is set to auto-increment.
