as i wrote at the end as long as you don't use lazyloading for models this is a great way of doing it
with lazyloading you either need to App::import() the model before using its constants or static functions (which works for me right now) or PHP 5.3.3 and some new magic static functions If anyone finds a solution, drop me a line.
