Just an update. I implemented this method just now and it works a charm, the only thing I need to comment on (because I'm fussy).
In my "create" action for the model related to these array_sources, I need to load around 10 list select boxes. In my controller this means having 10x $var = $this->Model->Model2->find() lines, and then use $this->set(compact(...
