In the CSS is have:
th a.asc:after {
        content: ' ⇣';
}
When a pagination link is clicked:  it should look like this:

Before  

NAME

AFTER

NAME ⇣

But what I am getting is

NAME ⇣

I know it has something to do with the encoding, just don't know where.
