Do not put the session ID in the URL. The PHP developers long ago switched to using cookies for the session ID, specifically so that users sharing URLs would not share session IDs and thereby perhaps inadvertently share personal data or login credentials. A session is to be used by a single user only. I applaud your desire to have a search URL shareable between users so that they can see the same results, but the method of accomplishing that goal should be to put the search criteria in the URL, not a session ID or search ID. Google and many other single-field text searches use a GET parameter called "q" for this (presumably short for the word "query"), for example: http://www.google.com/search?q=CakePHP But with CakePHP you have many options about how you'd like your URL constructed. -- Our newest site for the community: CakePHP Video Tutorials http://tv.cakephp.org Check out the new CakePHP Questions site http://ask.cakephp.org and help others with their CakePHP related questions.
