ROD RECIPES 4/1/2007 April Fool's Day Serve Spaghetti As Desert
Why is there an April Fool's Day?
In 16th century France, New Year's was celebrated from March 25 to April
1. King Charles IX adopted the Gregorian calendar in 1582 - and suddenly the
new year began Jan 1. Many people refused to switch or simply forgot the new
date. They were called "April Fish", and their celebrations turned into silly
pranks. This "fooling" eventually became a holiday of it's own. It later became
a custom in England - and the English brought it to the U.S.
Serve Spaghetti As Desert
Place a slice of pound cake on a plate. Spoon some softened ice cream in
a pastry bag with a thin round tip. Pipe the ice cream over the pound cake in a
swirly motion to resemble spaghetti noodles. Freeze for about 15-20 minutes to
allow the ice cream to harden back up. Top with strawberry jam as tomato sauce
and a few coconut flakes to resemble Parmesan cheese.
GOD Bless, Marla
