Peanut butter apple cake

1/4  cup soft butter
1/2  cup peanut butter
1    cup sugar
1    egg
1 1/4 cup sifted flour
1    tsp. baking soda
1    tsp. salt
1/2  tsp. cinnamon
1/4  tsp. each nutmeg and cloves
1    cup canned applesauce

     Cream butter, peanut butter and sugar. 
 Add egg and beat well.  Sift all dry ingredients
 together and add alternately with applesauce
 to butter mixture, stirring until smooth.  Pour
 into an 8x8x2 inch wax paper lined pan.  Bake
 for 40 minutes in 350 degree oven.  Cool for 5-10
 minutes then turn out on rack.  Peel paper
 away then ice with favorite icing, or even
 sprinkle with powdered sugar.

 sharp tongue soon cuts his own throat.
