If you don't need to upgrade from an ancient version, you can probably just

With 4.2 this seems not to be the whole truth.
CalendarServer still requires the directory containing the .calendarserver_version file to support xattr.

Though it doesn't use them for anything. It just does an xattr operation on all files it finds there.
