Patrick Mueller commented on CB-11:
-----------------------------------
I happen to like the "meaning" of the PhoneGap name; "Phone" for phones, though
it should probably be "Device"; and "Gap" in that the libraries "bridge the
gap" from today's to tomorrow's browser APIs.
"bridge" might be a better term to use, since it seems more positive than "gap".
"DeviceBridge"?
I'm a terrible namer. However, when I'm naming, I often look up terms in a
thesaurus to see if there are "interesting" alternatives to things, which by
itself seems a little helpful. Here goes:
gap - http://thesaurus.com/browse/gap
bridge - http://thesaurus.com/browse/bridge
device - http://thesaurus.com/browse/device
> come up with a new project name

> Project: Apache Callback
> Issue Type: Bug
> Reporter: Patrick Mueller
>
> During the transition of the PhoneGap project to Apache, the project was
> renamed to "Callback", due to some concerns with the name "PhoneGap". It
> seems that "Callback" isn't a great name either - it's a commonly used term,
> and so internet searches of "Callback" bring up too many non-relevant hits.
> Got something better?
