Marcel Kinard commented on CB-1159:
-----------------------------------

Andrew, I implemented your suggestion.

Michael, I was able to follow the instructions on the wiki to svn checkout,
modify www/, and "ruby bin/gen.rb". And I found a minor issue with gen.rb on
Linux. However, I'm not authorized to svn commit since I'm not yet a committer.
If I post the diff here, could someone commit it to svn for me? Thanks!

 <div class="wrap">
     <h2 class="icon icon-about">About Apache Cordova&trade;</h2>
+ <p>Apache Cordova is a set of device APIs that allow a mobile app
developer to access native device function such as the camera or accelerometer
from JavaScript. Combined with a UI framework such as jQuery Mobile or Dojo,
this allows a smartphone app to be developed with just HTML, CSS, and
JavaScript.</p>
+
+ <p>When using the Cordova APIs, an app can be built without any native
code (Java, Objective-C, etc) from the app developer. Instead, web technologies
are used, and they are hosted in the app itself locally (generally not on a
remote http server).</p>
+
+ <p>And because these JavaScript APIs are consistent across multiple
device platforms and built on web standards, the app should be portable to
other device platforms with minimal to no changes.</p>
+
+ <p>Apps using Cordova are still packaged as apps using the platform
SDKs, and can be made available for installation from each device's app
store.</a>
+
+ <p>Cordova provides a set of uniform JavaScript libraries that can be
invoked, with device-specific native backing code for those JavaScript
libraries. Cordova is available for the following platforms: iOS, Android,
Blackberry, Windows Phone, Palm WebOS, Bada, and Symbian.</p>
+
<p>Apache Cordova is an effort undergoing incubation at The Apache
Software Foundation (ASF), sponsored by the Apache Incubator project.
Incubation is required of all newly accepted projects until a further review
indicates that the infrastructure, communications, and decision making process
have stabilized in a manner consistent with other successful ASF projects.
While incubation status is not necessarily a reflection of the completeness or
stability of the code, it does indicate that the project has yet to be fully
endorsed by the ASF.</p>

> The current "About Cordova" describes some meta-political type state with how
> Cordova works within the Apache foundation. While possibly interesting, this
> does exactly nothing to describe what Cordova is, does, or why anyone would
> want it.
