Hi Chris and everyone,

I've been calling this dance quite a bit with beginning crowds where it's not
likely I'm going to be doing any diagonal moves, etc. Scatter mixers are my
favorite type of mixer dances, at least at the moment.

I found this will looking at other dances on Rick Mohr's web site. It's been
well received when I've called it.

Thanks, everyone, for the other great dances posted. I'll use them!

Author's notes: Written August, 1986. Summer dances in New Haven Connecticut
are held in the beautifully rough-hewn Eli Whitney Barn, which has a long
narrow space next to (and about five inches below!) a shorter space. It's
perfect for longways sets but dismal for circles, so in need of a mixer I wrote
this "scatter promenade" dance. It has turned out to be a reliable crowd
pleaser; the chaos factor from the scattering is great for loosening people up
early in the evening.

Bill Olson (fine caller from Maine and all-around great guy) points out that
doing a Maine-style right and left through (with hands) in the A2 makes for a
nice transition out of the right hand star. Thanks, Bill!

  Hi all!

I was wondering if you would mind sending me your favorite neighbor
swing only dances (no partner swing). I keep running into situations
where I have a high percentage of beginners who want to dance with each
other and it would help to have them practice the swing with experienced
people early in the evening instead of trying to do it with their partner.

Thanks!

Chris
