Hi Jillian! Welcome to the list and glad to hear about your guest spot! Ditto on Joy's posting - The Carousel by Tom Hinds is one of my "most called Hey" dances. I also keep it on hand in my "just in case" group of dances....
To add to Joy's teaching notes, in the A1: A1 Long lines forward & back Ladies Allemande L 1+1/2 to face your partner I find it helpful when calling the dance the first few times through (except the first time through), after LL F&B, to prompt the Ladies "Ladies look RIGHT (to a NEW lady), and allemande Left (or turn by the Left)...." At least it *starts* by the R shoulder, which really flows coming out of the allemande. I would orient everybody after the ladies allemande by having everyone face their partner with the ladies roughly back to back in the center and gents facing in.
