I sometimes do dances for school groups.
Lots of ages -
one that the kids seem to enjoy is: Can't Jump
Josie - It can be found in Marian Rose's book
Step Lively (red cover). Comes with a CD so you can
learn the words/tune - I like it because it
involves jumping and Addition -- and boys generally
love to jump.
I also use Jump Jim Joe at the Pre school dance I do
every year --- many boys - 3 & 4 years old and
their families and siblings. Very straightforward but
lots of jumping.
That one is in Down in the Valley.
Jump Jump Jump Jim Joe
Shake your Head
Nod your Head
Tap your toe
Turn around, around, around you go...
Then you turn around the other way to JUMP JIM JOE
repeat ...
Jump Jump Jump Jim Joe
Shake...
Nod....
Tap .....
Turn around..........
Then you turn .......
OR
if you want to use it as a mixer-last line would be:
Then find another partner and you JUMP JIM JOE
can be done - as individuals
or two circles --folks facing and you take hands
with your opposite
or two circles and you move to the next at the end.
Lots of possibilities and I always do the "speedup'
the last three times through.
