I will second John's opinion of David's book! I got it from John when I started calling. While I have a collection of books on calling, this one continues to be the one I refer to most often. -cynthia (also not a paid advertisement) :-)

Hi All, I see where someone mentioned David Kaynor's booklet, Calling for Beginners by Beginners, as a resource for new callers. I would go so far to suggest to all callers that if they have only one book on dance calling, this is the one they should have. The booklet is not an endless collection of dances. It IS a straight forward approach to the process of dance calling, programming and thinking about dancers. I recommend this booklet if for no other reason than David's approach and attitude to calling dances and the clear way he expresses this attitude. I have included it in the cost for calling classes I have given in order to be certain of getting it into new caller's hands. True enough, you will have to get the book directly from David but it will be the best $14 you have ever spent.
