For you OC types (I'm including myself) who love charts -- I've just
completed a Periodic Table of Contra (using all of the real atomic symbols --
Californium is California Twirl, of course, but the others aren't as
obvious), in poster size (18 x 24), full color. Just the thing to confound
your
fellow geeks and decorate your cubicle. A pdf will be available soon on the
FootFall Dance Weekend site -- profits will go to a scholarship fund for
young impecunious dancers. If you'd like to see the pdf, email me at
hgrastorf(at)aol.com and I'll send it along. If you're going to the Pittsburgh
Dance
Weekend or Butterball, I'll have a supply of posters (and rubber bands so
they stay clean) with me.

(The hardest one was Xenon -- symbol Xe.)

Dear dance  friends,

I'm pleased to announce that "Caller's Companion" - the dance caller's
assistant - is now officially available at http://callerscompanion.com I'd
especially like to thank Linda Leslie, Bev Bernbaum and Laura Pietravalle,
who along with a number of others helped test the beta, catch bugs and made
many feature and  improvement suggestions.

On the site you can find out more, take a quick tour, watch the Intro movie
and download a copy for either Mac or Windows to try out yourself. Caller's
Companion is available as a stand-alone application or bundled with a full
license of FileMaker Pro 10 (your choice).

Features include:

* Quick entry buttons (80), customizable to your preferred notation
* Fields for Source, Author, Music, Form, Progression, YouTube,
user-defined
* Link related dances  together
* Support for dance structures other than just A1, A2, B1, B2
* Set Lists ? a list of dances for an event incl. Alt dances, assigned
callers, start time
* Search by for a call within a phrase, e.g., dances with a Petronella
balance in B1
* Programming Matrix ? shows key elements in each dance, and highlights the
1st element
* On-Screen calling ? Large text screen for calling from a laptop
* Multiple printed formats for dances and sets
* and much more...

I hope you like what you see. I look forward to hearing from you all once
you?ve take  a look.
