Hello Jonathan, Congratulations on starting on what is hopefully a long and rewarding journey :-)
Top of the list for reference material at the meta-level is the Country Dance and Song Society: www.CDSS.org There's loads of material on there, I'd suggest poking around a fair bit. Everyone there is very friendly and happy to talk with you about this type of thing. It looks like Luck is maybe an hour and a half from Minneapolis and Saint Paul. I'd strongly suggest getting in touch with the contra dancers in that area (maybe http://www.contradancelinks.com/schedule_MN.html). If there are callers there (and in a major metropolitan area there should be), they'd possibly be willing to work with you and/or travel an hour and a half to call up at Luck. Folks will travel a bit to help the dance community (in north Texas, a 4 hour drive one way to call for another dance seems to be the norm). If there aren't callers in the area, they must be bringing folks through to do their dances, in which case possibly you could hold a Friday dance to their Saturday and try to book the same talent.
