Thanks for responding, and yes, I think you have grasped it. 

"Casting" is a good way of describing it, and I believe the dancers will make 
it happen smoothly somehow. I have not tried this with live dancers, which is 
why I am asking for feedback. 

I think a walking-backwards move is safe here, but only because 1) it's a 
'turning-in-place' as opposed to a 'traveling' move and 2) there is a physical 
connectivity to someone walking forward.

The dance is incomplete; I'm trying to "read" what the tune says the dancers 
should do. The melody in question is a swing/rag type of tune, as well as being 
crooked, so who knows where it will go. But it feels danceable.
I'm not sure what comes after the move.
